Continued Creative Development

Continuing on from a past blog, this blog is about the continued creative development of the choreography piece. There is a climax point towards the middle section of the piece to show the breaking point of aging. In this section there is a big jump followed by three fouettes. Before, the jump was a split sissonnes which was a highlight. However, now it is a stag jump with flexed feet and hands to show an imperfect jump which links back to the stimulus as it is portraying the imperfect self. Some feedback that was given in this section was that it wasn't clear as to what the fouettes resembled. Moving forward from this I have used the arms to show a ripping action during the turn sequence. This is to show the tears in the picture.

As said from before I watched a video of me performing the solo and I can see where it becomes obvious in the choreography when the intention is lost behind the movement. To keep the message shown throughout I have tried to maintain incorrect posture especially in still moments to capture the old person to the audience. I changed the posture of the end position to a curved  back so that it can show a hunched old person. I did this because from watching the video it is unclear at the end as to why I can suddenly sit up straight after showing the physical effects of age.

During the section of acceptance, later on in the piece, there is accumulation. Accumulation is copying the past movement. I think accumulation shows the continuity of people even if they do age, there will always be a part of them that stays the same. The movement showing accumulation begins with the right foot doing an envlope in parallel and then repeated with the right arm doing the same thing. This is then repeated a third time howver this time, the left arm and the right arm do a wave like motion and then have a moment of suspense when they are above the head.

In version is used in the final section of the piece to show memory loss. It begins with repetition of a phrase followed by eight counts of confusion/ forgetfulness of what was just done. In version is used by repeating the same phrase however, this time it is flipped and is on the other leg and is using the other arm. This is to show the mind aging and memory loss.
