Further Creative Development

When I started the choreographic process I wanted to show the insecurities of ones self and the fact that no one is perfect despite trying to conceal the reality of truth. Looking further into the stimulus and research about hiding behind something I decided that to me, the stimulus resembled an old person who is struggling both mentally and physically with the body not working as well as it used to however, there is a section at the end to show acceptance of the body changing. I wanted the audience to feel that whilst watching the piece they could look back to the stimulus and have a clear understanding of why the choreography linked back to the stimulus. I think this has been achieved because as the piece progressed I took on the feedback from my teacher and peers who said if the intention behind the eyeline, movement or message of the piece was lost.

During the choreographic process I have enjoyed the research that I have found out about the development of the brain as we mature. I think something that has gone well is resembling the image of the stimulus itself as the floor patterns focus to corners a lot and there is a repeated motif throughout portraying a polaroid. Something that I have found challenging is adapting movements to look old and show mental and physical struggle. An example of this would be when there is a running section, using a stumble moment to show that as you mature this becomes physically challenging.
